Jamie Foxx will have his name above the title of upcoming music documentary \u00a0“Thunder Soul.”<\/p>\n

The “Ray” star will “present” the Roadside Attractions film in the hopes of broadening the audience, much as\u00a0\u00a0Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry did for “Precious.”<\/p>\n

The film has been a fixture of the festival circuit, picking up a nomination for Best Documentary at this year’s Spirit Awards.<\/p>\n

“Thunder Soul” follows the alumni from Houston\u2019s Kashmere High School Stage Band, who return home after 35 years to play a tribute concert for the 92-year-old Conrad \u201cProf\u201d Johnson, their beloved band leader who transformed the school\u2019s struggling jazz band into funk powerhouse in the early 1970s.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t wait to share Thunder Soul with the world so that everyone can enjoy this one of a kind experience,\u201d Foxx said in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s such an entertaining and inspirational story that touches your soul and awakens the human spirit in the way that only love and the power of music can.\u201d<\/p>\n

Snoot Entertainment\u2019s Keith Calder and Jessica Wu produced “Thunder Soul” along with director Mark Landsman. Foxx will present Thunder Soul, and will serve as executive producer, along with his FoxxKing Entertainment partner Jaime King.<\/p>\n
